Alkohol ( Alcohol )

Alkohol juga sejenis bahan yang boleh mencetuskan kesan-kesan ketagihan dan pergantungan. Pelbagai jenis alkohol yang terdapat di pasaran dan mudah diperolehi seperti beer, gin, vodka, bourbon, whiskey, tequila, wine, brandy, champagne, rum, sherry, port, coolers dan lain-lain.

Kesan-Kesan Pengambilan
Pertuturan yang kurang jelas, kurang pertimbangan dan kemahiran motor atau pergerakan otot-otot, tiada koordinasi, kelam kabut, menggeletar, mengantuk, pening dan muntah serta penyakit pernafasan.

Kurang pertimbangan boleh menyebabkan tingkahlaku berisiko tinggi seperti memandu dalam keadaan mabuk dan menyebabkan kemalangan, tingkahlaku seksual bebas yang menyebabkan pengguna terdedah kepada penyakit berkaitan dengan jangkitan seksual, serta tingkahlaku mencederakan diri sendiri.

Tabiat minum arak secara kronik setiap hari boleh menyebabkan ketidakmampuan untuk mengawal tabiat minum, tahap tolenrasi yang tinggi, pitam dan hilang daya ingatan, gangguan dalam hubungan peribadi, penyakit limpa, kekurangan vitamin, kerosakan hati dan sistem saraf pusat, lemah dalam seksual dan pertimbangan berat badan.


Alcohol

Alcohol is a depressant that comes from organic sources including grapes, grains and berries. These products are fermented and distilled into a liquid. Alcohol affects every part of the body. It is carried through the bloodstream to the brain, stomach, internal organs, liver, kidneys, muscles and everywhere. It is absorbed very quickly, as short as 5 – 10 minutes and can stay in the body for several hours.

Alcohol affects the central nervous system and brain. It make users loosen up, relax, and feel more comfortable or make them more aggressive and it also lowers their inhibitions, which can set them up for embarrassing or dangerous behavior.
Health Hazards
As parent, you should know that drinking alcohol can have serious consequences. The teenage brain is still developing. Did you know that alcohol can impair the parts of the brain that controls :

  • Motor coordination. This includes the ability to walk, drive and process information which can lead into fatal accidents
  • Impulse control. Drinking lowers inhibitions and increases the chances that a person will do something that they will regret when they are sober.
  • Memory. Impaired recollection and even blackouts can occur when too much alcohol has been consumed.
  • Judgment and decision making capacity. Drinking may lead young people to engage in risky behaviors that can result in illness, injury and even death.

Risky Behavior

  • Addiction. New research shows that the serious drinking problems called alcoholics are associated with young adulthood and even adolescence drinking.
  • Illicit drug use. More young people who start drinking will try an illicit drug.
  • Sexual activity. Alcohol use by teens is a strong predictor of both sexual activity and unprotected sex.
  • Violence. Children who start drinking are more likely to be injured while under the influence of alcohol and to be in a fight after drinking.
  • School. Alcohol can interfere with a student’s ability to think, making learning and concentration more difficult and ultimately impeding academic performance.
  • Driving. When young people drink and get into a car, they tend to make poor decisions that impact their safety.
